Interviews for the first time is a very different and unexpected experience. It gives you chills not only on the day of the interview but way before it. Well, it is natural. But what if you get a guide book which can help you prepare for it and leave your mark on the interviewer.

Going for an interview for the first time? Worry not. We have got you covered.

In this blog, we will discuss the most common questions asked during an interview. Let us begin.

Tell me something about yourself?

The most common and difficult question is when an interviewer asks you to introduce yourself. This question decides whether you will be liked by the interviewer or not.

What he really wants to know-

  • Your confidence level
  • Enthusiasm
  • Passion for work
  • Family background

Always give a positive answer no matter what. Don’t give too much or too less information.

What are your strengths?

The next question could be about your strengths. As he found you interesting, he wants to know more about you in detail.

What he really wants to know-

  • How much do you rate yourself? (Underrate or overrate)

Always tell your best qualities like you are hard-working, patient, do not hold grudges etc.

What is your biggest weakness?

After your strengths, there comes your weakness. The interviewer really wants to find something bad about you so that he could move to another candidate.

What he really wants to know-

  • Whether you are able to identify your weakness and how can you cover up with that?
  • Also, how smart you are in getting away from difficult questions?

You can share your weakness which is your strength also.

Example: “I am a bit emotional towards my work”

“I get into far too detail and try to accomplish anything, I want everything to be done perfectly, but then realise I am loosing out my own time”

“I trust people very easily, sometimes it works well but sometimes I have to suffer     because of that”

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Another frequently asked question is to know about your capabilities and self-confidence.

What he really wants to know-

  • Are you planning for long term commitment or short term commitment
  • Do you really think before answering questions or just speak anything that pleases the other party

In this situation we cannot quote the designation or position you want to be at directly rather will talk about it on different levels.

What do you know about our company?

You should really know well about the company you are about to join. It not only gives you an edge during the interview but also while you join the company if you get selected.

What he really wants to know-

  • Whether you are serious about the job or you have just come for a random interview
  • Do you research when you go for meetings
  • Do you prepare when some task is assigned to you

Always do your research about the company, it’s Director or Founders. Knowing the latest news about the company always gives you brownie points.

So, here are some of the frequently asked questions summed up for you to give you an edge while going for an interview.

But always remember, not getting selected in an interview does not decide your future. Always have trust in yourself. We all are made to do something great in our lives. We just have to wait for the right time. Sabka time aata hai toh apna time bhi ayega.
